Why Putting Off Dental Work is Much Costlier

Posted on 1/20/2018 by Doctor Schwei
Putting Off Dental Work Premier Valley Dental AZ 85014A survey conducted in 2013 by ORC International reveals that 80% of adults in the US are fully aware that putting off dental work will eventually be costlier, while 39% admit to delaying dental care due to tight financial conditions.

In the same survey, 53% claim that it would be "nice to have" routine visits to the dentist, but that they do not consider it a need, while 17% disclosed that spending on dental care comes second only to other priorities such as fixing car problems and other issues with electronics and household appliances.

The Cost of Delaying Dental Work

If you share the same views with the second, third and fourth set of respondents in the survey mentioned above, it would do you a lot of good if you start agreeing with the 80% who understand that putting off dental work will definitely cost you more in the long run.

While it is undeniable that dental work is typically on the pricey side, prioritizing dental cleanings or fillings over your car and appliance repair offers priceless benefits. On the other hand, choosing to neglect dental care will result not only to higher expenses, but also to more severe pain and irreversible complications caused by tooth decay, impacted wisdom teeth, tooth abscess, gum disease, tooth fracture or whatnot.

By investing on regular dental checkups and pushing through with the necessary dental work recommended, you can prevent further damage to your teeth and your pocket. It is infinitely more convenient to spend a few hundred dollars for cleanings, fillings or crowns than wait for your condition to become worse, where you eventually end up footing thousands of dollars for root canals and extractions. Therefore, it would be wise to save money for dental work, the same way you would for your primary care checkup routines.
