Of course, we know that this isn't true as we've done a lot of research and grown a lot over the years but it's interesting nonetheless.The First Dental SchoolOn February 21, 2018 Dr. John M. Harris opened the first dental school in Brainbridge, Ohio. This was the first step towards establishing dentistry as a profession. It was followed by the opening of the first dental college, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, in Baltimore, Maryland in 1840.The First American Dental Association (ADA) AwardIn August 1859 William Henry Atkinson founded the American Dental Association in Niagara Falls, New York. It handed out its first award to Dr. Mandel in 1931. He's world-renowned for his research on saliva and for establishing the first Division of Preventive Dentistry. Today the ADA continues promoting public oral health care, making it accessible to everyone.Dentistry TodayDentistry has grown and changed a lot over the years. It started with some very rudimentary toothache remedies in 1700BC and has since grown into what we know today. Many of the treatments and remedies that were used back then are still used today – simply improved upon over the years.
