Dentures Phoenix, AZ

grinning denturesThere are a handful of reasons why people lose some or all of their teeth. Regardless of the cause, one thing’s for certain, it's never easy to lose a tooth. Missing teeth can lead to all sorts of problems. To start with, missing teeth can impact chewing and speaking capabilities. Missing teeth can also play a role in self-esteem issues; luckily, we are here to help!

We understand every patient is unique and no mouth is the same. If you are missing one or many teeth, Dr. Schwei will take the time to evaluate what type of denture is best suited for your mouth. The beauty of dentures is today they look very similar to natural teeth and no one will suspect you’re wearing false teeth.

1. Conventional Dentures

This denture is for patients who have lost all of their teeth or need to have any remaining teeth removed. In some circumstances, for optimal long-term results, some patients need time for their bone and tissues to heal after multiple extractions. A denture is custom made to fit in all the nooks and crannies of your mouth to give it the best fit possible.

2. Immediate Dentures

As the name suggests, immediate dentures are placed immediately following dental extractions. The advantage of immediate dentures is that you can walk away with a full smile the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth. A set of immediate dentures may be the best solution when complete extractions of your remaining teeth are unavoidable, but it would inconvenient for you to live without teeth while your conventional dentures are created. However, because immediate dentures are inserted right after your dental surgery, your gums and jaw will change shape as they heal, so it may be necessary to have an immediate denture adjusted.

3. Partial Dentures

partial denturesA partial denture is a removable, yet natural looking appliance that helps restore the form and function of your jaw by replacing one or several missing teeth. A partial denture is a functional and esthetic alternative for patients who cannot have a bridge or implant placed for any such reason. For those who are missing a few teeth, a partial denture also helps prevent shifting of the other teeth in your mouth, while giving you the confidence of having a beautiful, complete smile.

4. Implant Retained Dentures

implant retained dunturesDepending on your bone structure, a denture may not fit precisely and/or may become looser over time. However, there are options available for permanent denture retention through the surgical insertion of dental implants. By using between four and six implants on each arch (top and bottom jaw), we can permanently stabilize your denture, helping it look and feel as natural as the teeth you once had. Some of the positive benefits of implant retained dentures are:

•  IMPROVED CONFIDENCE: implant retained dentures look and feel more like natural teeth.
•  STABILITY DURING EATING: thanks to multiple secure anchor points provided by the implants, the denture is less likely to shift in your mouth when you eat and you will be able to enjoy all your favorite foods.
•  BONE AND GUM PRESERVATION: by keeping the supportive structures engaged, implant retained dentures help preserve your function and appearance
•  IMPROVED ESTEHTICS: implant retained dentures are customized to fit the natural look of your face and smile
•  NO MORE ADHESIVE: implant retained dentures are not removed on a daily basis. Instead you are able to clean around and under your teeth. Your denture will only be removed at your routine professional cleaning appointments.
