Multiple tooth extractions are different in the sense that they are more complex and challenging because of the placement of the problematic teeth. Regardless of the difficulty, our dental office is more than capable of handling multiple tooth extractions, and we do so on a regular basis.The Challenge of Multiple Tooth ExtractionsUnlike a simple extraction that involves the removal of a single tooth, multiple extractions involve two or more teeth that may pose different kinds of challenges and complexities. These typically stem from either their placement or location; sometimes, it is even both. There are two possible scenarios that involve multiple tooth extractions, namely, the multiple adjacent teeth and the multiple isolated teeth. Multiple adjacent teeth mean that two or more affected teeth are positioned right beside each other. In this case, we administer a numbing agent on the areas surrounding the teeth. Considering that two or more teeth may be involved in the procedure, a larger wound is expected, which may require some stitches. On the other hand, multiple isolated teeth, take more time to be extracted and each area is numbed separately. What to Expect After the ProcedureAfter the extraction, patients will likely experience swelling not only on the inner portion of the mouth but also on the outside. The peak of the swelling normally occurs within the first two days after the extraction. In some cases, it may also spread around the area of the eye. Furthermore, patients may also experience a sore throat caused by the affected muscles near the extraction area. We make sure that we take care of our patients in their recovery.
